The words "About Us" in red handwritten script.

The LTH Matrons of the Arts is a membership community dedicated to teaching women how to find meaning in art by becoming supporters, collectors, advocates, and investors in the work of women artists. (You’ve heard of patronage— this is matronage.

Through community and education members are taught how the art market works— from how to negotiate prices, identify authenticity, to how to insure an art collection for future generations— coming together for events, online and in person.

Making the Most of May: Navigating New York art fairs, auctions, and events during Frieze week

The New York art market thaws when May comes around— yes, there’s Frieze art fair held at Hudson Yards (May 13-17th), but the month brings with it tens of satellite fairs that are ideal for the new collector, not to mention the open-to-the-public viewings for the spring auctions at Christie’s and Sotheby’s. Katie Alice Fitgerald joins us for our April art professional webinar, to explain how she makes the most of the art calendar’s craziest month.

Speaker is Katie Alice Fitz Gerald, an art advisor and former director at Denny Gallery, where she ran the gallery's Hong Kong location.

The Art of Seeing: How Critics Interpret Artworks 101

with Xintian Tina Wang

For the next installment of our Art Professional Sessions, we’re joined in conversation by journalist and cultural critic Xintian Tina Wang to discuss the way art writers interpret the works they see. How do they know there is a story when on a studio visit or a gallery hop? How do they decide what to write about and what gender topics come to the fore?

We’ll explore these questions and more in our Art Professional Session, The Art of Seeing: How Critics Interpret Artworks.

Zoom link shared via email and in the LTH Event Schedule on Google Calendar.

As always, this session will be recorded and uploaded to Thinkific.

Members Only: Art Professional Webinar

Part 2 of our "Legacy" curriculum, which focuses on how to build longevity into your collection for the sake of your legacy and the legacy of the artists within it.

Join Caitlin Yates of Bullimore Partners to discuss the basics of collection management — from the archival must haves (invoices!) to the nice to haves (correspondence with the artist!) — to how to think thoroughly about who will steward your collection when you move on from it (either through donation, deacquisition, gifting, or estates).

More about Caitlin: Caitlin Yates is a cross-category fine and decorative art specialist with a deep understanding of the art market. She has worked for private galleries in the US and the UK and worked at Christie’s in London for a decade. As a Specialist and Head of Sale in the Private and Iconic Collections Department, she successfully oversaw and sold diverse multi-million-pound single-owner collections spanning antiquities to modern & contemporary art, fashion and guitars. Yates returned to the US when she was recruited to serve as Art Collection Manager for the Ann and Gordon Getty Collection before launching Bullimore Partners in 2024.

Yates holds an MLitt in Art History and Art World Practice from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, with additional art law coursework through The Institute of Art & Law.

Thought Leadership: How to Engage with Women Art Collectors and Values-based Collecting with AWAD

Over Zoom.

How can art dealers and advisors engage and support women and values-based collectors, particularly if they are new to the art world?

According to an Art Basel/UBS Survey of Global Collecting, wealthy women are a "growing force" in the art world, spending more on art than men in their median expenditure, and with more inclusive collecting tipped towards women and BIPOC artists. Younger collectors are also more likely to be passionate about supporting emerging artists from a diversity of backgrounds. How can art dealers and advisors engage and support such values-based collectors, particularly if they are new to the art world? Join the Association of Women Art Dealers when Sylvie Gormezano (Independent Curator) and Hall W. Rockefeller (Less than Half) join Susan Mumford, AWAD's Founder & CEO to discuss this topic.

Open to the public.
