15%
of museum collections in the US feature work by women artists.
3%
of items for sale at art auctions are created by women.
70%
of MFA graduates are women, yet they remain underrepresented in the art world.
At the same time, many women who love art are told—explicitly or implicitly—that collecting requires a “good eye,” insider access, or vast resources.
Less Than Half exists to help women trust their taste, build knowledge over time, and participate in collecting as a meaningful, joyful, and impactful practice.
Less Than Half is an education and community-led membership designed to support women at every stage of collecting art by women artists.
Our members curate their involvement to suit their lifestyle. A typical month for a Less Than Half member includes…
Learning how to articulate what they’re drawn to and why aka naming your taste
Developing confidence in acquisition decisions
Hearing directly from Hall W. Rockefeller and other art world experts and practitioners via online webinars and the unique Less Than Half curriculum
Connecting with fellow members through online conversations and real-world mixers
Attending curated global events, studio visits, gallery openings, and art fair moments
Beginning or deepening an art collection that reflects their values, curiosity, and lived experience
Who are Less Than Half Members?
We are a community of culturally curious women from all industries. From tech to law, from stay-at-home moms to empty-nesters, most of us are not art professionals, but we share a passion for learning about, investing in, and connecting over art made by women artists.
“What’s the best thing about Less Than Half? Having a group of women where I can be like “is this normal?!” from stupid questions to thinking creatively about art as an asset class not only for enhancing your own wealth, but enhancing community wealth, however you define that.”

Emerging Tier
“I came back from my first Less Than Half Event feeling super inspired. I looked around my apartment and said, wow, there’s a lot of dudes in here. I consider myself a pretty like hardcore supporter of women in so many facets of my life, especially in my career. To look around and see what was around me and realize that wasn't necessarily who I was giving those dollars to, just really opened my eyes to it. It’s just been an awesome journey getting to learn from Hall and everyone involved. Being a matron makes you just look at things with that different lens.”

I’ve been introduced to accessible entry points and started building my collection with pieces under $5k. I didn’t know that was possible!”

While the majority of our IRL events are currently in NYC, we will be coming to a city near you soon, and we encourage members to organize art outings with other members in their area!

By fostering a community of informed and passionate collectors, we help ensure that women artists receive the recognition and financial support they deserve.
